Ibiza caters more to the young and lively and has done so
since it was "discovered" in the 1960s.
Early on, the island was a haven for artists and
writers. It still is, although its reputation has long
since spread and travellers of all sorts visit - if not to
be part of the "latest scene", then at least to
observe it.
The area around Sant Antoni [San Antonio] has the largest
selection of hotels and resorts. It is a high-energy
resort with plenty of daytime activities based around the
marina. The bay offers a wide selection of watersports
and boat trips. After dark, it's party time and the
club scene is legendary.
There are two other main tourist centres, Ibiza Town and
Santa Eulalia which are less than 10 miles away, fusing the
three into one resort complex. Ibiza Town is also
famous for its party atmosphere and clubs.
Es Cana is set in a picturesque bay location on
Ibiza's east coast, only 4 miles from Santa Eulalia.
Lively by day and night, the resort has a small harbour, an
attractive beach, excellent watersports and an especially
good market on Wednesdays.
Plaza d'en Bossa, 3 miles from Ibiza Town on the
southern coast, is more of a family resort with a massive
stretch of white sand that shelves gently into the
sea. It is home to the Aguamar waterpark, Ibiza's
biggest.
Cala Llonga is sandwiched between a beautiful bay and
pine-covered hills and is popular with golfers. The
modern resort centre has a good selection of tapas bars,
restaurants and shops, and a relaxed atmosphere.
